What can I say about AdSense other than the fact that in my opinion, they are the best contextual advertisers. They are basically responsible for starting the entire contextual advertising revolution. They make it extremely easy to get highly targeted ads onto your web site with little effort.
Targeting:
I would say that 96% of the time the targeting is right on leading to high click through rates. Every once in a while poorly targeted ad will appear…this however is the exception. If there are no available ads to match your site’s content, you will have non-paid PSA (Public Service Announcement) ads shown. Instead of these PSA’s you may opt to create alternative ads.
Reliability:
In the past 1.5 years I’ve been using AdSense, I’ve only had problems once with ads not showing up on my sites. This outage only lasted a few hours.
Ad Quality:
Google is extremely careful about maintaining a high quality within their ads. In addition, you have the option of easily blocking ads that you do not want to appear on your site.
Reporting:
AdSense has a flexible system for reporting your earnings. It is important to note however that these ARE NOT real-time stats and can often lag by up to 36 hours or so.
Pay:
All that I can say without violating the AdSense TOS is that they pay reasonable amounts (in my own opinion). They are very reliable…I have never had to worry whether or not they would send me my monthly check. The $100 minimum per check is a bit on the high side, but reasonable. In addition, it would be nice if they offered other options (besides checks) such as wire transfer or Paypal.

While Google AdSense is an amazing opportunity to make some serious cash off your site, I personally find it a bit disenchanting that they do not reveal the percentage of revenue paid to advertisers nor will they allow their advertisers to talk about or discuss their own personal earnings. I would love to post this information with my review but it is not allowed per the TOS.

With Google AdSense, you cannot specify a custom size for the ad block, you must choose from a series of predefined ad blocks. You are however allowed to completely customize the ad’s color palette.
